All other related work as required.
Supervision At the direction of the Town Council President, the Clerical Assistant will report directly to the Assistant to the Council.
Performs a variety of functions of a clerical nature requiring judgment, initiative, and confidentiality, the ability to prioritize and multi-task, complex, time sensitive assignments independently.
Job Environment Performs work under typical office conditions, with frequent interruptions from the general public.
Work environment can be moderately noisy.
Operates all standard office equipment, including telephone, computer, and copy machine.
Has frequent contact with the general public and members of the community to provide information.
Has frequent contact with other town departments via telephone, email, in person, and in writing.
Has access to confidential information.
Must maintain confidentiality at all times.
Errors, whether clerical or miscommunication, or the inability to meet deadlines, could result in the delay or loss of service and legal implications.

Responsible for the efficient and timely completion of clerical and administrative tasks of the Town Council Office, through the performance of various tasks, including, but not limited to, data entry, answering phones, responding to emails, maintaining filing system, ordering office supplies, composing correspondence and citations, Council logistics and planning of meetings of the Council and all Council committees, updating the Council section of the town website including posting news and information, agendas and minutes, and completing complex research projects as assigned.
Recommended Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent and 1-3 years of experience in general administrative and/or clerical work, or an Associate's Degree or higher in a related field can be substituted.
Municipal experience preferred, but not required.
Knowledge, Ability and Skill Knowledge.
Thorough knowledge of office practices, and procedures.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, internet and strong computer skills.
Working knowledge of current records management techniques.
Ability.
Ability to record and maintain clerical records.
Ability to organize time, multi-task and prioritize, work independently and accomplish tasks, despite frequent interruptions.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with town employees, other departments, officials and the public.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to operate various types of office equipment.
Skill.
Excellent typing and computer skills, including Word, Excel and data management.
Skill and ability in operating standard office equipment.
Proficient communication skills and the ability to deal with the general public in a tactful and courteous manner.
Organized, detail oriented and proficient writing skills.
